Accessibility Statement
This statement covers the CoverMyClass marketing website at covermyclass.com. The secure CoverMyClass platform — used by school staff under a service agreement — is covered by its own accessibility commitments, which are reviewed at each major release and provided to schools on request.
Version 1.0 · Last updated: May 2026 · Effective: May 2026
Summary
- We design and build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our target standard.
- We design with school staff in mind, including users of assistive technology.
- We list known limitations honestly rather than overclaim conformance.
- You can report an accessibility barrier at hello@covermyclass.com. We aim to acknowledge within 5 working days and to provide a substantive response within 14 working days.
1. Our commitment
CoverMyClass is committed to making our website and platform accessible to as many people as possible — including users with visual, motor, cognitive, hearing, or speech impairments, and people using assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice control, screen magnification, and alternative input devices.
We recognise that most of our customers are schools and multi-academy trusts in the UK public sector. We design with the principles of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 in mind, while noting that those regulations apply directly to public-sector bodies rather than to a private supplier. We treat them as a useful benchmark for the standard our customers expect of us.
2. Standards we target
We aim to conform to:
- the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA;
- equivalent guidance in WCAG 2.2 where reasonably practicable; and
- the general accessibility principles that follow from the Equality Act 2010 in our role as a service provider.
"Conformance" in this statement means we have designed against these standards in good faith. Independent audit and formal certification are planned as the platform matures, and we will update this section when those are in place.
3. What we have done
On the website, we have implemented:
- a clear, predictable page structure with semantic HTML headings;
- keyboard navigation throughout, with a visible focus state on interactive elements;
- text and interactive elements that meet WCAG 2.1 AA colour-contrast ratios;
- body text that scales without breaking layout, including support for browser zoom up to 200%;
- descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and empty alt attributes on decorative ones;
- link text that makes sense out of context;
- a responsive layout that adapts to small screens, tablets, and desktop;
- a colour palette and typography chosen for legibility; and
- compatibility with current screen readers in standard configurations.
Within the secure CoverMyClass platform we additionally prioritise short, action-oriented copy, generous touch targets, and a low-cognitive-load layout suited to teachers working under time pressure.
4. Known limitations
We list known limitations honestly. As of the effective date of this statement:
- some downloadable documents (for example, PDF policy artefacts shared during procurement) may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We will provide an accessible alternative on request;
- a small number of decorative illustrations are non-essential and are not exposed to assistive technology;
- some embedded third-party components (for example, a form or video provider) are outside our direct control and may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We monitor them and prefer providers with published accessibility commitments; and
- automated colour-contrast scoring is performed on text content but not on every transient state of every interactive element. Manual review fills the gap.
We treat each known limitation as a backlog item, not a permanent compromise.
5. How we test
We test accessibility using a combination of:
- manual review by the team building each page, including keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader spot checks;
- automated tooling (for example, axe-core class checks) integrated into our build and review process;
- visual review against published WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios; and
- feedback from real users, which we treat as a first-class signal.
This statement was last reviewed in May 2026. The website is reviewed for accessibility on each material content change. We aim to formally re-assess the website at least annually.
6. Reporting a barrier
If you find an accessibility barrier we have missed, please tell us. Helpful detail includes:
- the page URL;
- a brief description of the issue, including the step where it appeared;
- the device, browser, and any assistive technology you were using; and
- whether the issue blocked you from completing what you set out to do.

Subject line: Accessibility report
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 working days and to provide a substantive response — including a remediation plan where appropriate — within 14 working days. Where a fix requires longer work, we will give a timeline and keep you updated until it is resolved or formally accepted as a known limitation.
7. Alternative formats
Where reasonable and practicable, we can provide website information in an alternative format on request — for example, plain-text content from a styled page, a tagged PDF, large-print copy, or a structured walkthrough. Please contact hello@covermyclass.com.
8. Enforcement and further information
We will always try to resolve accessibility concerns directly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may seek advice from:
- the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which supports individuals with equality and human-rights enquiries in England, Scotland, and Wales; or
- the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), which enforces the Equality Act 2010.
School customers may also raise concerns about supplier accessibility through their own DPO and procurement governance.
9. Changes to this statement
We will update this statement when we make a material change to our accessibility practice — for example, when an audit completes, when a known limitation is resolved, or when our target standard shifts. The current version is always reflected at the top of the page.
