1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these.

A cookie may be a session cookie, deleted when you close your browser, or a persistent cookie, which stays until it expires or you delete it. Cookies are first-party when set by us, and third-party when set by a service we use.

We categorise cookies in line with guidance from the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

2.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They are typically used for:

We do not use advertising cookies on covermyclass.com. We do not allow third-party advertising networks to track visitors to the website. If we ever change this practice, we will update this policy and ask for fresh consent before any advertising cookie is placed.

3. Third-party services

A small number of trusted providers help us operate the website — for example, content delivery, hosting infrastructure, security monitoring, and (where consented) analytics. Where these providers set cookies, they do so under our written instructions and with appropriate safeguards under UK GDPR.

A current list of providers that set cookies on the website is available on request from privacy@covermyclass.com. We will publish that list on this page before any provider that sets non-essential cookies goes live.

4. Cookies on the CoverMyClass platform

The secure CoverMyClass platform — separate from this marketing website — uses cookies and tokens that are strictly necessary for authentication, session management, account protection, and platform security. These are not used for advertising or analytics. Platform cookies are governed by your school's service agreement and our Data Processing Agreement, not by this policy.

5. Consent and control

You can manage non-essential cookies in three ways:

5.1 The cookie banner

When non-essential cookies are in use on the website, a banner is shown to first-time visitors. You can:

• accept all cookies;
• reject all non-essential cookies; or
• choose which categories you allow.

Once you have made a choice, you can change it at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer (shown when non-essential cookies are in use).

5.3 Your browser

All modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Instructions are typically under your browser's "Help", "Settings", or "Privacy" menu. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working.

6. Cookies and personal data

Where cookies process information that identifies you (for example, an IP address), we treat that as personal data and handle it in line with our Privacy Policy. The lawful bases under UK GDPR most relevant to cookies are:

• legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) and PECR regulation 6(4) for strictly necessary cookies;
• consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR and PECR regulation 6) for all other cookies.

7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser headers, as there is no settled standard for them. Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid withdrawal of consent for non-essential cookies.

8. International transfers

Where a cookie provider processes information outside the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on an appropriate UK GDPR transfer mechanism — for example, an adequacy regulation, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. 9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when we add a new analytics provider, change a category of cookie, or refine our consent flow. The current version is always published on this page, with the version number and effective date shown at the top. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will surface the change through the cookie banner.
